Haunted Eternal
The sky opened up and the stars twirled, falling until the wet specks softly landed on my face. I couldn't help but giggle a low laugh in my throat. My eyes squeezed tight and my body spun slowly, reaching my arms out to each side catching the white droplets on my flesh. 'Please don't let this moment end' I heard myself whisper. My thoughts were of things, and those I can not, will not ever forget.
Some strands of hair escaped the velvet hood and I drew the soft cloth tight over my body, but nothing covered my bare feet and I laughed even more. It was not the night or cold to shield but a clinging to vaporous memories that surrounded me.
A cold touch brushed over my bare white hand, stopping at the very large dragon-embossed ring that covered better than half my middle finger on my left. Something pulled and twisted the ring, but I saw nothing. Gripping my hand to a fist, I lowered my hood with the other and my eyes grew hot. I was sure the black pools of onyx were now sparkling emeralds.
My ghost grabbed me firm and held me close. I gasped and breathed in. Yes... I breathed in air. Not because of need but because it was what I wanted to do. I wanted to taste air and to feel it rush into my lungs and out again. My breath was deep, and something beyond. When I exhaled, the aspiration made a brief appearance, directly in front of my face, just inches from my lips. I felt his words over my mouth as if he was making sure they found their way to my core.
'I am your promise.' My body shook with the claim. 'I am your past, your present and your future. You'll never be done with me.'
